Eliminate Indoor Dry Air This Winter with a Whole-Home Humidifier

Comfy & Cozy Family by Fireplace

Keep your family comfy and cozy this winter with a whole-home humidifier.

There’s nothing quite like waking up in a cozy warm room while the outdoors is blanketed in snow. Except when you’re waking up with a sore throat and dry skin from dried-out air.

While furnaces provide much-needed warmth, they can also lead to over-dry air that can irritate your sinuses and also damage your home and furniture.

The solution? Whole-home humidifiers, which return moisture to the heated air to increase comfort levels and protect a home’s finishes.

The top 5 benefits of whole-home humidifiers

It’s surprising just how much your comfort, and even your health, depends on having some moisture in the air. Here are five improvements you can see with a whole-home humidifier.

1. Health and wellness

Dry indoor air can cause a host of health problems, including:

  • Dry and bleeding nasal cavities
  • Cracked and itchy skin
  • Sore throats
  • Respiratory difficulties.

A whole-home humidifier can mitigate all of the above.

2. Protection for electronic devices

Walking across carpet in a dry environment can be a shocking experience. That little spark when you touch something metal may seem harmless. But a static shock can wreak havoc on computers, game consoles, and smartphones.

A more humid environment can help keep your electronics (and your fingertips) safe from static electric shocks.

3.  Preservation of fixtures and furnishings

Indoor dry air can cause significant damage to a home – from chipped paint and plaster to cracked wood floors. Heated air that’s not properly humidified can even cause musical instruments to go out of tune. If you have a piano in your home, dry air can lead to costly tune-ups and even damage the instrument.

With a whole-home humidifier, you can keep a consistent level of moisture in the air and keep your floors, walls and furnishings in good shape.

4. Savings on energy costs.

Over-dry air can make the framing around your windows and doors shrink. This can lead to ineffective seals that let in cold air. A whole-home humidifier helps keep the hot in and the cold out.

5. Easier maintenance than portable units

Compared to portable humidifiers, whole-home systems require minimal maintenance. They can keep a home at a desired humidity level with just the initial setup. You won’t have to worry about daily cleaning or the risk of bacteria growth from standing water. And you won’t have to deal with unexpected puddles if someone bumps a portable unit and spills the reservoir.

Hear From Our Customers

These guys were my second call when my furnace stopped working properly. The first company I used sent a tech out who said the furnace needed to be replaced, and gave me a quote, but said he "jiggled a wire" and got it running again for the time being.

When it went out again the other day, I called Ray N. Welter. Their tech, Ralph, fixed the problem in half an hour. He told me the furnace is pretty old, but his fix should get me through the winter "and maybe a couple more," and then gave me a quote that was lower than the first company.

These guys are rad.

Furnace stopped working. When that happens after hours you learn a lot about companies. Today I called RW and got a person on the phone that knows about furnaces and he dispatched a service person Phil within 2 hours. I called them based on personal refer and reviews. They are excellent. Despite having a very old furnace it was the second time that this company said I did not need to replace. If I did replace it I want a Trane and RW would do to the work. For now I will call them for fall/spring tune ups and love that they don't have the club memberships etc. Just good solid customer service for all customers. A really ++ experience. Family run business with integrity.

If you need superior service this is your company!!! We were in Florida experiencing our first year as "snowbirds" when our furnace (in Bloomington) stopped working. Rick Welter personally took our call and not only sent a technician to our cold home, but checked on it for the next two days until our new heating unit could be properly installed. Phenomenal service!

In addition to the great service, their pricing was very competitive. I highly recommend this company for all of your heating or A/C needs!!!
