The Best Places to Dine Outdoors in the Twin CitiesThere’s nothing quite like summer in the Twin Cities. The air is warm, the lakes are sparkling, the trees wave in the breeze, and birds chirp away on every street-corner. Because the community is filled with people who know that winter chill is never too far away, Minnesota residents never waste potential time in the sun. We go to the beaches, ride our bikes, and enjoy the plethora of local parks and wildlife. We also flock to our favorite restaurants so we can take advantage of two of our favorite things: sun and food. But where are the best places to dine outdoors? And who’s open for business during these strange times? We’ll answer both of these questions today. If you’re interested in supporting local businesses while enjoying the great outdoors, here’s our list of our favorite outdoor dining options in the Twin Cities. And, just in case you were wondering: they all re-opened for service on June 1, 2020. #1 – Sea Salt EateryImage credit: Tripadvisor If you live in the cities, you know Sea Salt. The local favorite is a favorite for good reason: the seafood they serve is absolutely delicious. Be warned that in the throes of summer, lines here can be long. The food is worth the weight and the location right next to Minnehaha Falls is a treat. Plus, there’s tons of outdoor space to spread out in so you can enjoy your calamari or Mahi tacos in peace. #2 – Lake & IrvingImage credit: Phil Ward Photography The patio at Lake & Irving is now open, and with it comes the elevated style and flavor they’re known for. Lake & Irving offers fare that we like to call “elevated casual.” You can order a burger, but it’s going to be a luxe one with black truffle and foie gras on a brioche bun. It makes it a good choice for a summer date or an intimate dinner with loved ones. #3 – Brit’s PubImage credit: Brit’s Pub Brit’s Pub might be a surprising addition to this list since it’s in the middle of downtown Minneapolis. That said: just because they don’t have patio space doesn’t mean they don’t have great outdoor space. Brit’s is home to an expansive open air rooftop with grass, spaced tables, and as much sky as you can stare at. They even do outdoor movie showings and bocce ball competitions from time to time. Their food is traditional English pub food, so it’s a great place to grab some scotch eggs and beers with friends. #4 – Betty Danger’s Country ClubImage credit: Betty Danger’s Country Club Betty Danger’s isn’t just a place to eat… it’s an experience. They’re open now for reservations only. All you have to do is schedule in advance for a chance to sit and enjoy drinks and cocktails on their amenity-filled patio. It’s the perfect choice for a group of friends who want to make a night of it. After all, Betty Danger’s not only has great drinks and a fun twist on country club fare, they also have a ferris wheel. You heard that right: a ferris wheel. What’s not to love? #5 – Bread & PickleImage credit: Bread & Pickle Bread & Pickle is a favorite of people living in and around the Lake Harriet area. There’s a large walk-up ordering window just a boardwalk skip away from the lake. They offer delicious local, sustainable picnic foods like burgers, french fries, and ice cream. It’s a perfect choice for families looking for food and a chance for an outdoor walk. If you have young children, there’s also a huge playground nearby for them to play at after they’ve had their fill. It’s Time to Go Out!If this list inspires you to get out and enjoy some local food and local air, treat yourself to an extra appetizer. You can tell yourself that the team at Welter Heating insisted you treat yourself.
